MacBook screen protector

I wanted to get a screen protector for my MacBook Air but will that damage the screen since the protector is sticky? And if I wanted to remove it later on would it damage the lcd?

It might damage the special coatings on the screen, such as anti-glare. Apple advices against adhering protectors.

Be careful with such things. Some of them can permanently damage the screen.

I recommend you don't use them. Just keep the screen clean using Apple's instructions: Cleaning your Apple products - Apple Support
